Ken and Janet Strouse have lived in Storm Lake since June, l971 when they purchased their ServiceMaster franchise for the surrounding counties.  Ken worked for a ServiceMaster business in Windom, Minnesota for one year while Janet taught school in Jeffers, Minnesota.  Ken saw the opportunity to have his own business and has seen his dream come true.  They chose to live in Storm Lake because of  the lake, the college, and the beauty and opportunity Storm Lake offers to people.  

In l979 their business was honored with the nationally Expert Award in ServiceMaster which was given to the top six businesses based on market penetration, growth, and $ increase in Sales annually.  They have been honored many times within the distributor’s areas and regionally each year for their growth and awareness of their customer’s needs.

Both Ken and Janet are involved in their SERVICEMASTER OF STORM LAKE business.  Ken is always involved in the field selling, estimating, and supervising the crews while Janet is the office manager  at their office located at 8l5 West Milwaukee.  They have five fulltime employees and twelve part-time employees.  They offer residential cleaning in homes, commercial cleaning (one time or janitorial), and are the leaders in disaster restoration cleaning of fires, smoke, and water losses.

The Strouse’s enjoy the many activities Storm Lake offers all their residents.  Ken enjoys fishing and just being on the lake.  Janet has a porcelain doll making business, known as Best Friends, and sells the dolls at area craft shows.  She also enjoys quilting, cross-stitching and reading. Together they enjoy traveling, golfing, boating, and playing cribbage.  They have one son, Michael, who is a Data Base administrator for Sitel Corporation in Omaha, Nebraska.  They support the many opportunities Storm Lake gives businesses and people by belonging to professional and civic organizations in Storm Lake.
